75th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
The KES “There’s No Place like KES”
75th Anniversary Celebration
is Friday, June 5th.
STUDENTS WILL BE CELEBRATING ALL DAY LONG! Parents have been very eager to volunteer to help ever since receiving Principal Harris’ flyer a couple of weeks ago. Please visit the following website to learn about the volunteer opportunities:
We’re using VolunteerSpot to organize our upcoming Sign-ups. Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:
1) Click this link to see our Sign-Up on VolunteerSpot: http://vols.pt/V3JHc5
2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.
3) Sign up! It’s Easy – you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on VolunteerSpot.
Note: VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact the KES PTO at email@example.com and I can sign you up manually.
If the volunteer opportunities do not work with your availability, please mark your calendar for the celebratory Parade scheduled for 2:00 PM and will be held outdoors (weather permitting) in the circular driveway. You are welcome to join us (weather permitting)!
We are again writing to you asking you to become involved in the KES PTO. I know what you are thinking, “Oh boy, I don’t have time for that.” Or “Someone else will do it.” The truth is every little bit helps no matter what type of schedule you have.
Please review the list of committees below to see which one(s) you would like to volunteer for. If you would like more information on what the chair position entails (including a general idea of time commitment), please email Kristen Lawton (firstname.lastname@example.org) or any member of the KES PTO Executive Board (email@example.com) at your earliest convenience.
The following are the open positions for next school year:
Co-1st Vice President
Committees that need two (2) co-chairs:
Yearbook – Class of 2016 this is one that you DEFINITELY want filled! Work starts in conjunction with the 5th Grade Slideshow over the summer, as well as with the Class Picture Chairs.
Committees that need second co-chair:
After School Activities
Fall Book Fair
KES Edible Garden and Greenhouse Program co-chair
Class of 2016 Garden and Greenhouse Program Rep
Class of 2017 Garden and Greenhouse Program Rep
We look forward to hearing from you to find out how you would like to get involved.
Please be sure your child comes to school in clothing that is appropriate for outdoor play. Open toe shoes and flip-flops are inappropriate shoe attire for our playground area; students may be asked to refrain from certain activities. (see page 12 of the 2014-2015 Family Handbook)
WALK TO SCHOOL FRIDAYS ARE BACK!!!!
In celebration of good exercise and our wonderful KES community, we’d like to encourage KES students to again walk (or ride their bike) to school on Fridays (weather permitting).
If students can’t walk or ride their bike, please have them take their regular bus route so that there are fewer cars dropping off at KES and, therefore, increased safety for our walkers and riders
As in the past, there should be extra police presence on Fridays — so there should be a crossing guard at New Street and Valley Road on Fridays.
As a reminder, there is always a crossing guard at: Huntville & Cherry; Huntville & Glen Ridge; Huntville & South; and Huntville & New Street. We hope to see many KES students walking to school on Fridays from now until the end of the school year!!
PS – We’d love students to walk/ride to school as often as possible at this time of year – it doesn’t just have to be on Fridays.
